Summary
A composite chemical heat storage material (EMC) which was mixture with expanded graphite (EG), magnesium hydroxide [Mg(OH)2], and calcium chloride (CaCl2) was developed for a reactant of magnesium oxide/water chemical heat pump. The optimization of mixing weight ratio between EG and Mg(OH)2 in EMC was discussed experimentally. Reactivity enhancement of Mg(OH)2 as increasing of amount of EG in mixture was observed. On the other hand, to keep heat storage capacity per unit of material volume was also important. Optimized mixing weight ratio between EG and Mg(OH)2 was discussed in the stand points of both heat storage density and reactivity by using kinetic analysis of EMC’s dehydration reaction rate constant.
