THE ARTICLE BRIEFLY DESCRIBES THE USE OF MICROPROCESSING FOR OPERATING AND CONTROLLING ATEST RIG FOR REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS. THE PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE OBSOLESCENCE OF MICROCOMPUTERS ARE ANALYZED. SOME RESULTS ARE PRESENTED SHOWING THE FLEXIBILITY OF THE SYSTEM AND PROVING THAT AUTOMATIC CONTROL AS WELL AS ACCURACY AND RAPIDITY OF DATA ACQUISITION, TOGETHER WITH THEIR PROCESSING, CAN BE SIMULTANEOUSLY ACHIEVED WITH MICROPROCESSORS.
