Experience with indoor air cleaners.

Summary

At the beginning of the year 1993 there was a smog situation lasting several days. Outdoor air was very polluted and the health of especially small children and allergic persons of all age groups began to deteriorate considerably. At the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic it was decided to procure equipment for the cleaning and conditioning of air in school and for health care facilities. The National Institute of Public Health in Prague was commissioned to work out a report assessing such equipment on the basis of a tender. It is reported on the dust collection efficiency, air-flow volume, and acoustic feature of the equipment, as well as on the ionizing capacity and ozone concentration in apparatuses with built-in ionizers.
