Experimental investigation of flow boiling heat transfer in narrow channels.

Author(s) : MERTZ R., WEIN A., GROLL M.

Summary

In the frame of a R&D project of the Commission of the European Communities experiments are carried out at the IKE (Stuttgart, Germany) with the aim to investigate the heat transfer characteristics and the boiling phenomena in narrow rectangular channels of planar heat exhanger elements. The channels are 1, 2 or 3 mm wide with aspects ratios of up to 3. The experiments are carried out in the flow boiling mode in vertical orientation. Water and R141b are used as working fluids, under saturation conditions at pressures of 100 and 200 kilopascals.
