Summary

The objective of this paper is to validate the performance of a novel self-cooled solid desiccant cooling system which consisted of desiccant coated heat exchanger and evaporative cooler. In this system, the evaporative cooler is adopted to chill-down the water from the outlet of desiccant coated heat exchanger, and then the chilled water is pumped into the inlet of desiccant coated heat exchanger again to take away the adsorption heat produced in dehumidification process. The heating water used in regeneration process is heated by low grade thermal energy. The average moisture removal Dave and thermal performance COPth of self-cooled desiccant-coated heat exchangers cooling (SDCHE) system is about 6% and 17% higher than that of desiccant-coated heat exchangers cooling (DCHE) system at the same operating condition.
