Experimental measurement of cyclic degradation performance of air conditioners through a building load simulation in a test chamber environment.

Summary

An experimental study was conducted on the part load ratio (PLR), part load factor (PLF), and degradation coefficient (CD) values in the cyclic operation condition of an air conditioner by simulating the sensible building load of an indoor room in a well-defined chamber environment. When constant and variable speed air conditioners were cyclically operated at a fixed set temperature with various building load stages, the coefficient values of PLR, PLF, and CD were recorded and analyzed. The values captured by this novel experimental approach showed consistency, with relatively small measurement errors compared with prior studies. Our experimental data could be used as reasonable evidence data in the seasonal efficiency calculation method of UNI, ASHRAE, EN, ISO, and other air conditioner standards.
