Summary

A METHODOLOGY FOR THE DETERMINATION OF THE OPTIMUM TIME UNTIL DEFROSTING THE EVAPORATOR IS BASED ON THE ENERGY BALANCE INVOLVED IN THE FROSTING-DEFROSTING CYCLE WITH RESPECT TO THE PERFORMANCE OF THE DRY AIR COOLER. THIS METHOD IS VALIDATED EXPERIMENTALLY. THE TESTS ARE CARRIED OUT AT GIVEN TEMPERATURE AND RELATIVE HUMIDITY. THE DEFROSTING FREQUENCY INCREASES WITH THE FROST RATE. A HIGHER TEMPERATURE AND RELATIVE HUMIDITY LEADS TO A BETTER DEGREE OF PRECISION FOR THE DETERMINATION OF THE OPTIMUM.
