Summary

This paper provides new experimental data on flow boiling of propane in a stainless steel horizontal tube, whose heated length is 193.7 mm and its internal diameter is 6.0 mm. Heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop data were collected over the whole range of vapor qualities for saturation temperatures from 25 to 35°C, by varying also the imposed heat flux from 2.5 to 40 kW/m2 and using mass velocity from 150 to 300 kg/m2s. The pressure gradient and local heat transfer coefficient data are finally compared with correlations taken from scientific literature, evaluating the mean and absolute deviations as statistical parameters.
