Summary

The experimental results comparing the multi-bypass pulse-tube refrigerator with the double-inlet version verified that the former could reach a lower temperature than the latter. A lowest temperature of 23.8 K and a cooling load of 3.6 watts at 77 K were obtained with the refrigerator described. It appears that the middle bypass section becomes the second refrigerative part in the refrigerator. The pressure oscillations measured show that the multi-bypass and double-inlet versions both have a positive effect on the refrigeration process.
