DESCRIBES AN OUTDOOR PERFORMANCE TEST OF A HEAT PIPE SOLAR COLLECTOR AND A CONVENTIONAL ONE OF THE SAME STRUCTURE AND SIZE. FINDS THAT LITTLE THERMAL PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT IS OBTAINED BY A HEAT PIPE SOLAR COLLECTOR BUT FURTHER RESEARCH IS DESIRABLE INTO THE USE OF HEAT PIPES IN FLAT PLATE SOLAR COLLECTORS WITH A VIEW TO SOLVING FREEZING AND CORROSION PROBLEMS OF SOLAR COLLECTORS.
