Summary

The author develops an expert system for the maintenance of one-stage refrigerating plants, by using only information from sensors. The analysis focuses on representative variables. These variables appear in permanent-flow models. An expert module analyzes the variations of these parameters to show the operation of the plant. The limit to the monitoring of permanent flows is justified. Based on the experiment, the difficulties of the expert approach in the refrigeration sector are given: lack of information on the mode of degradation of the system. Finally, solutions are given for gathering the necessary knowledge and ensuring in all cases the accuracy of the diagnosis.
