EXTERIOR INSULATION CAN BE APPLIED DURING ORIGINAL CONSTRUCTION OR AS A RETROFITMEASURE OVER ALMOST ANY SOUND SUBSTRATE. THE RETROFIT APPLICATION TO CONCRETE ROOFS AND CONCRETE OR MASONRY WALLS HAS MANY ADVANTAGES SUCH AS THAT NO INTERIOR SPACE IS LOST, THERE IS MINIMUM DISRUPTION TO THE BUILDING OCCUPANTS AND A REDUCTION IN ENERGY USED FOR HEATING AND COOLING. CARE NEEDS TO BE EXERCISED IN SELECTING THE COMPONENTS.
