THE AUTHOR STRESSES THE CONSTRAINTS TO BE MET DUE TO THE RISKS CAUSED BY THE MOVING OF ISOTHERM 273 K (0 DEG C) INSIDE THE VERY STRUCTURE OF THE STORE UNDER REPEATED FREEZING-THAWING CYCLES. HE DESCRIBES THE SOLUTION ADOPTED IN GDR BY IN SITU EXPANSION OF POLYURETHANE UNDER A METAL CLADDING AND OBSERVES THE EXCELLENT RESULTS OBTAINED OVER 10 YEARS EXPERIENCE. J.R.
