Feasibility of vitrification of zebrafish (Danio rerio) embryos using methanol.
Author(s) : LIU X. H., ZHANG T., RAWSON D. M.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The lowest apparent vitrification concentration of methanol was found to be 10 M for a 1-microliter volume. The toxicity of 10 M methanol was much more pronounced with early stage embryos than later stages. Vitrification of embryos on gold electron microscope grids showed higher percentage of embryos remaining morphologically intact, compared with previous studies. However, no embryos showed any developmental ability.
