Type of article: Article

Summary

The author presents a nationwide survey (conducted from October 1996 until April 1997, a period during which air conditioning was required in offices) designed to record complaints from salaried staff concerning air conditioning. A physician who has worked in the industrial sector since 1983 and has taken part in several studies on air conditioning explains how to prevent health problems in salaried staff working in air-conditioned premises. A glossary presents infectious diseases, the sick-building syndrome and building-related illnesses. During consultations, several physicians questioned salaried staff on the deleterious effects of the work environment.
