THE DEVELOPMENT OF TECHNIQUES RESULTS IN INCREASED REQUIREMENTS FOR A CLEAN ENVIRONMENT. THE DEVELOPMENT OF PARTICULATE METERS RESULTED IN NEW REQUIREMENTS WHICH DISRUPTED THE CLASSIFICATION OF CLEAN ROOMS. PREVIOUS AND NEW CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS ARE MENTIONED. FILTERS CONDITION THE CLEANLINESS OF ROOMS, BUT OTHER FACTORS ARE INVOLVED: CLEANLINESS OF RAW MATERIALS, HANDLING QUALITY, PROTECTION OF THE PRODUCT, EXTERNAL AIR DISTRIBUTION, STAFF WORKING IN THE ROOM.
