THIS ARTICLE REPORTS ON A METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE FIN/TUBE THERMAL RESISTANCE OF AIR CONDITIONING HEAT EXCHANGERS FROM COMMON PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS ON HEAT EXCHANGERS WITH COMPLETE AND INCOMPLETE FIN ATTACHMENT TO THE TUBE. EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS JUSTIFY THE THEORETICAL MODEL BOTH QUALITATIVELY AND QUANTITATIVELY. THE MECHANICAL ATTACHMENT UNDER INVESTIGATION SHOWS AN INFLUENCE OF THE FIN STRUCTURE ON THE FIN/TUBE THERMAL RESISTANCE THAT CAN BE EXPLAINED BY THE DIFFERING FIN SHAPE STABILITY.
