FIRE HAZARD IN COLD STORES. OFFICIAL REGULATIONS, CONSTRUCTIONS AND FIRE TEST METHODS IN NORWAY.

Summary

NORWEGIAN REGULATIONS ARE RESTRICTIVE AS REGARDS THE USE OF PLASTIC INSULATION. THE COLD STORES, FOR WHICH PLASTIC INSULATION IS NOT ALLOWED, ARE INSULATED WITH FIREPROOF MINERAL WOOL. THE COST OF THESE STRUCTURES, MAINLY IF THEY ARE OF LARGE SIZE, IS LOWER THAN THAT OF PREFABRICATED STRUCTURES WITH PLASTIC INSULATION. THE INSULATION OF WALLS AND ROOFS IS FIREPROOF, ALTHOUGH WITH WOODEN FRAMEWORK. THE DOORS, FOR WHICH PLASTICS ARE NOT ALLOWED, ARE INSULATED WITH MINERAL WOOL, WITH A STAINLESS STEEL CLADDING. STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS AND COMPONENTS SHOULD CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FIRE RESISTANCE AFTER TESTS CARRIED OUT BY THE NORWEGIAN FIRE RESEARCH LABORATORY.
