Flow pattern determination at refrigerant condensation inside horizontal tubes.

Author(s) : STAJIC Z.

Summary

Flow pattern determination appears as a significant problem, as it enables performing correct modelling of the condensation process. The paper should lead to analysis and comparison of three existing procedures, taken from eminent sources, as well as to possible recommendation of one of them. The analysis deals with three refrigerants (R12, R22 and R717), considered in the said references, as well as with R134a, being the most acceptable substitute for R12. General conclusion is based on consideration of flow patterns along the tube for all combinations of parameters (condensing temperature, inside diameter of tube and refrigerant mass velocity).
