FLUCTUATIONS OF AIR VELOCITY IN ROOMS AND THERMAL COMFORT.

Author(s) : MAYER E.

Summary

THE PAPER DEALS WITH TWO QUALITIES OF AIR MOVEMENTS THAT REACT ON DRAUGHT SENSATION. THE UP TO NOW FIELD AND LABORATORY RESEARCHES LEAD TO THE FOLLOWING CONCLUSIONS: IN THE FUTURE THE STATEMENT FREE OF DRAUGHT WILL HAVE TO FULFILL DIFFERENT REQUIREMENTS. THESE REQUIREMENTS MUST COMPRISE MARGINAL VALUES OF MEAN AIR VELOCITY AS WELL AS OF TEMPORAL DYNAMIC BEHAVIOUR OF AIR MOVEMENTS (TURBULENCE INTENSITY AND FREQUENCY). THE CONVECTIVE SURFACE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT SHOULD BE TAKEN AS BASIS FOR THE JUDGEMENT OF THERMAL COMFORT INSTEAD OF THE MEAN AIR VELOCITY.
