Summary

AFTER OBSERVING THE STRONG DECREASE IN THE RESISTANCE OF THE FILLER METAL OF BEADS FOR ALUMINIUM ALLOYS BETWEEN THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE AND -196 DEG C, THE EFFECT OF THIS BAD RESISTANCE ON THE BEHAVIOUR OF STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS WAS EVALUATED. THE PAPER GIVES THE RESULTS OF THE STUDIES AND ANALYSES THE FRACTURE MECHANISM, SHOWING THAT FOR QUASI-STATICALLY STRESSED TANKS, THE RESISTANCE TO FAILURE IS SUFFICIENT. R.R.
