THE AUTHORS HAVE DEVELOPED A NEW CONTROL METHOD FOR DIRECT-EXPANSION TYPE MULTIPLE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS CONSISTING OF A REFRIGERATION CYCLE WITH ONE OUTDOOR UNIT AND SEVERAL INDOOR UNITS. THE DEVELOPED METHOD IS BASED ON A NEW ADAPTIVE CONTROL WHICH FOLLOWS REFERENCE MODELS DESCRIBING DESIRABLE RESPONSE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SYSTEM.
