Experimental comparison of continuous vs pulsed flow modulation in vapour-compression systems.

Summary

The paper presents a comparison between three air-conditioning regulation strategies. First is the conventional "on and off" system, according to thermostat indication. Second is the use of an inverter, the actual capacity being matched through compressor speed variation. A third method is shortcycling of the compressor, the frequency being adapted to the actual capacity required. The COPs of these different systems are evaluated.
