Generation of TBAB clathrate hydrate slurry (CHS) by accession of CHS into supercooled aqueous solution.

Number: pap. O31

Author(s) : SHI X. J., ZHANG P.

Summary

The usual TBAB CHS generation method is that hydrate crystals are generated from supercooled TBAB aqueous solution. When the solution temperature was lower than phase-transition temperature, the generation of TBAB hydrate crystals could be accelerated by accession of TBAB CHS into the supercooled solution. The influence of different parameters on the generation process was studied: supercooling degree and the amount of CHS added into the supercooled solution. The results showed that accession of CHS could immediately induce the formation of a large amount of crystals when the solution reached supercooling state. And the minimum effective amount of the added TBAB CHS reduced as the increasing of supercooling degree. In addition, the photos of the crystals generated at different time were recorded in order to clarify the generation process.
