Summary

Some details are given of a new 120-meter pelagic freezer trawler, but more specifically of the two net drums which carry trawls of 1,500 and 1,200 meters respectively. The choice of trawl to be shot depends on the depth of water at the time and the density of the fish. These pelagic trawls are said to be good for fishing on the bottom and are used for a variety of fish including pollock. The towing resistance is low and the trawl decreases in mesh size every row from front to rear. They are made of supertwist nylon with a wax core which melts and seals the knots on heating. G.R.S.
