Summary
The first mechanically refrigerated ice rink (The Glaciarium) was opened in 1876 in Chelsea, London, by Professor John Gamgee (1831-1894). The world had to wait another 10 years for the first car! Besides this skating rink, he made other remarkable inventions: a new preservation method for meat, a refrigerated hospital ship, a Zero-engine, etc.
