Author(s) : GIOCO M.

Summary

ENERGY SPENT IN RICE DRYING REACHES UP TO 24% OF THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF DIRECT AND INDIRECT ENERGY AND UP TO 64% OF DIRECT ENERGY REQUIRED. THE REDUCTION OF THE SPECIFIC THERMAL CONSUMPTION TO A HALF WAS ACHIEVED IN AN EXPERIMENTAL DRIER, BY MEANS OF A HEAT PUMP THAT OPERATES BETWEEN THE AIR-INLET AND THE OUTLET. THUS, MORE THAN 50% OF THE ENERGY PRESENT IN THE EXHAUST AIR WAS RECOVERED. THE PAPER REPORTS SOME RESULTS AND REMARKS CONCERNING THE SAME RECOVERY SYSTEM APPLIED TO A FARM-SIZE PLANT.
