HEAT TRANSFER ON A SMALL STIRLING ENGINE.

Type of article: Article

Summary

HEAT TRANSFER OF STIRLING ENGINES WAS INVESTIGATED FOR IMPROVEMENT OF THERMAL EFFICIENCY. THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT BETWEEN THE CYLINDER WALL AND THE WORKING GAS WAS STUDIED BY MEASURING HEAT FLUX ON THE EXPANSION CYLINDER WALL OF A TEST UNIT OF A STIRLING ENGINE. THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT WAS THEN CALCULATED USING GENERALISED EQUATIONS FOR THE PERIOD OF HEATING AND EXPANSION STROKE AND FOR THE PERIOD OF COOLING AND COMPRESSION STROKE SEPARATELY.
