Heat transfer through the refrigerator door gasket region.

Author(s) : DESCHAMPS C. J., PRATA A. T., SCHMID A., et al.

Summary

A numerical analysis of the heat transfer through the door gasket region in a household refrigerator was performed using a two-dimensional model. The computational domain included the gasket cross section, the steel shell and the plastic liner, the wall and the door flanges, the wall insulation, and the air space trapped between the liner and the door panel. Internal and external heat transfer associated to the inside and outside wall surfaces, respectively, were considered through overall heat transfer coefficients parametrically prescribed. The results explore the temperature distribution and the heat flux pathways in the gasket region.
