Heating the ground under freezing chambers.

Chauffage du sous-sol des chambres de congélation.

Summary

In this article, the author explains in detail how to design and install the heating installation for the ground under a freezer. Technical literature concerning this is indeed almost impossible to find. As these studies also concern refrigeration specialists, good knowledge of this technology is compulsory. For this type of heating system, the free heat produced by the compressors can be used. Moreover, this will give unquestionable added value to the freezing system. However, some people do not see the point of heating the ground under a freezer. It is generally assumed that the underground cannot suffer from freezing or that the Earth radiates enough heat in return to counter that effect. Worse still, misled architects, builders and installers accept unquestioningly the erroneous opinion according to which only the superficial layer of ground (i.e.: the floor), and not the ground layer situated immediately under the insulation layer, or the ground should be heated. Once the ground is frozen, it is too late to install an appropriate heating device. Hence, correct information on this topic is not superfluous.
