Higher efficiencies by means of variable-speed technology in a domestic refrigeration application.

Summary

It is estimated that new standards from Department of Energy will take effect some time in 2000. When these new standards take effect, the next step in compressor design will need to be taken. Variable-speed technology is one way of reaching this next plateau. A motor comparison and an analysis of piston rod stresses at high speeds and oil pumping capability at slow speeds are discussed in this paper.
