Summary

Absorption heat pumps are systems energized by heat, which have long been well known and are often used in USA and Southeast Asia, especially for air conditioning. This conventional technology has physical limits. In the paper it is shown how these limits can be overcome, e.g., by multi-stage systems. The technical importance of such developments is shown with examples of various pilot plants.
