THE ARTICLE DESCRIBES A NEW COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR THE SIMULATION OF SMALL AND MEDIUM SIZED HEAT PUMPS. HPDESIGN WAS FIRST CONCEIVED TO STUDY THE BEHAVIOUR OF AIR-TO-WATER, WATER-TO-WATER, WATER-TO-AIR, AND AIR-TO-AIR HEAT PUMPS BASED ON THEIR INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS' CHARACTERISTICS. HPDESIGN ALSO PRODUCES THE PARAMETERS REQUIRED FOR SIMPLER SIMULATION MODELS, SUITABLE FOR ANALYZING THE ANNUAL PERFORMANCE OF HEATING SYSTEMS.
