Ice thermal storage options for space cooling in tropical buildings.

Summary

In countries such as Thailand where a time of use tariff exists, chillers run at night to charge ice storage tanks leading to improved efficiency and lower operating costs. There are various techniques to charge and discharge coolness to and from ice. Characteristics of various ice storage options are compared. The systems included in the study are external melt ice-on-coil, internal melt ice-on-coil, ice harvesting, encapsulated ice, and slurry ice.
