Identification of high-performance absorbents for absorbent-heat carrier pairs in absorption cycles.

Identification d'absorbants performants pour les couples absorbant-calorigène des cycles à absorption.

Summary

This article describes research designed to identify a high-performance absorbent using Hansen's method. This method is an extension of Hildebrand's regular solutions' theory and its applications to gas solubilities. After having reminded the reader of Hildebrand's parameter, the author defines the value of Hansen's parameters in true solutions. These parameters were depicted graphically in order to identify a high-performance solvent of methanol. It was concluded that this solvent must have an alcohol or an amide function, a low molecular weight and few methyl groups. Computer simulations confirmed solubility hypotheses. However, simulations do not obviate the need for the usual considerations concerning absorption cycles. The advantages of this method are described.
