THE PAPER SUMMARIZES THE EVALUATION OF HEAT PUMP RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT TRENDS WHICH WAS CARRIED OUT AS PART OF THE INTERNATIONAL ENERGY AGENCY COLLABORATIVE PROJECT ORGANIZATION IN WHICH 13 COUNTRIES PARTICIPATED. THE PROJECT AND SCOPE IS DESCRIBED AND THE CURRENT TRENDS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF HEAT PUMPS ARE ANALYSED UNDER THE BROAD HEADINGS OF SORPTION AND COMPRESSION SYSTEMS.
