IT HAS BEEN SHOWN THAT BY REDUCING THE SPACING BETWEEN THE FILAMENTS AND KEEPING ALL THE OTHER FACTORS THE SAME, SIGNIFICANT INCREASES IN CURRENT DENSITY CAN BE ACHIEVED IN CONVENTIONAL MULTIFILAMENTARY NIOBIUM-TITANIUM SUPERCONDUCTORS OF THE TYPE USED IN THE COLLIDING BEAM ACCELERATOR AND TEVATRON DIPOLE MAGNET DESIGNS.
