Summary
The authors developed the technology for rolling-piston-type rotary compressors for refrigerators using R134a. It is known that the reliability of compressors is lower when using R134a for conventional compressors without any modifications than that when using R12. They tested refrigerating oil, materials for motors, mechanical parts for their compatibility with R134a and for reliability; it has been found that reliability equivalent to that of R12 system can be maintained.
