Summary

The present status of the development of rotary compressors is reviewed in comparison with the author's prediction presented in 1984. Trends in research and development of rotary compressors in Japan are described by reviewing rolling piston compressors, scroll compressors, and screw compressors. Present efforts in the development of turbo-compressors, and the development of Stirling coolers and engines are discussed.
