Summary

In order to achieve its objectives of minimizing maintenance costs, enhancing equipment reliability and increasing investment efficiency for HVAC systems, facility management requires information on equipment control and support such as optimal operating conditions, failure prediction, troubleshooting and advice on maintenance. The paper briefly describes a facility management support system that the author has developed and put into practical use. It also points out that a future challenge to enhancing facility controllability is to furnish the facility management support system with the necessary information and to establish a framework of data bases for the system.
