In-situ repair of superinsulated pipes for cryogenic liquids.

Author(s) : SAHU P. L., PRADHAN N.

Summary

The network of over 1100 m length of superinsulated pipes is installed at the air separation plant of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant to connect the three production units with the 11 cryogenic storage tanks for liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen and liquid argon. Problems such as sweating and complete failure of super-insulated pipes were observed frequently. This paper describes how systematic studies were carried out to find cost-effective solutions.
