Summary

USEFUL EVAPORATIVE COOLING DEPENDS ON THE WET-BULB TEMPERATURE OF THE AIR ENTERING THE EQUIPMENT, BUT IT IS EVIDENT THAT INDIRECT EVAPORATIVE COOLING COMPONENTS, COUPLED WITH MECHANICAL REFRIGERATING COMPONENTS, OFFER THE DESIGNER A COST-EFFECTIVE DESIGN SOLUTION TO COMFORT COOLING EVEN IN AREAS OF THE COUNTRY HAVING RELATIVELY HIGH DESIGN WET-BULB TEMPERATURES. THE PAPER DEMONSTRATES THAT INDIRECT EVAPORATIVE COOLING CAN BE USED IN SERIES WITH MECHANICAL COOLING IN WAYS THAT RESULT IN LOWER ANNUAL OPERATING COSTS.
