Summary

It was only from Showa 30's (1955-1965) that the heating condition in the dwelling houses became gradually improved along with the high expectation toward cold-protected housing and the exploitation of the heat-resisting materials. Now in Hokkaido so-called northern-style houses are most popular and leading in the market owing to their highly insulated and air-tighted system. Examples of heating environment and the thermal sensation, actually measured in the highly insulated, airtight house are discussed.
