Summary

The paper reports the results of tests conducted on the first industrial-scale absorption heat transformer (AHT) equipment in China, recovering the waste heat released from a mixture of steam and organic vapour at 98 °C in a coagulation synthetic rubber plant, Yanshan Petrochemical Corporation, Beijing, China. The recovered heat is used to heat hot water from 95 to 105 °C, feeding back to the coagulator as heating source. The AHT system operate, with H2O/LiBr solution, with a heat flow of 5000 kW. The characteristics of the components, the main operating parameters, the COP and the temperature lift are presented. The results show that the mean COP is 0.47 and the payback period is approximately 2 years.
