Author(s) : HIRANO H.

Summary

Synthetic oil is used as lubricant oil for compressors using HFCs. It is compatible with HFCs but the water absorption is higher than that of conventional mineral oil. The author studied the influence of water in ester oil on sliding parts of a scroll compressor with wear tester. He made clear the following: 1) relation between water and wear phenomena; 2) mechanism of wear with water; 3) method to prevent water influence.
