Number: pap. n. 489

Author(s) : SIMON F., PIRIOU C., CORGIER D., et al.

Summary

In the frame of a French urban project located in Lyon named Lyon Confluence, in 2011 a tender was launched for a 12 000 m² plot to be built with a positive energy balance target. In order to reach this objective, the building developer BOUYGUES IMMOBILIER has benefited technological from equipments developed and supplied by TOSHIBA and Japanese suppliers. This has been possible thanks to a partnership between Grand Lyon and NEDO.
In the first part of the paper, the HIKARI named plot characteristics are described with general information concerning surface sharing, and tender hypothesis, which have oriented solution choices. In the second part, the project design process is detailed for building envelop and equipment: thermal insulation, air tightness, ventilation, cogeneration unit, chilling systems with storage, BEMS and HEMS, photovoltaic system and battery system. In the third part, the EnergyPlus building energy performance simulation models used in the frame of the project are explained in detail. The simulation results considering the building envelope performances are discussed to explain the hydraulic architecture and the impact of hot water and chilled water on generation systems power sizing. The comfort condition evaluation by simulation is also shown with information concerning climate hypothesis.
The last part is dedicated to the commissioning work that is to be achieved in the frame of the NEDO partnership. It will be jointly performed by TOSHIBA, TAKENAKA and MANASLU Ing. to ensure performances in operation. The delivery test program is then explained with a validation of control strategies for chilled water and hot water storage systems. The monitoring plan of dwellings, retail shops and office areas is shown with the energy equipment performance evaluation instrumentation diagrams. The monitoring process with simulation model calibration is also explained. The project results will be used designing actual efficient and low energy buildings with validated design processes and energy efficient architecture.
