Summary

Air-conditioning, refrigeration and heat pump equipment is using 15 to 20% of the electrical energy globally. Many times this is not done in an effective way. The paper present a method for and experience from performance testing in field and how documentation of performance can be used to optimize systems. Experience from many thousand performance inspections done in the field in Europe shows that savings of 20-30% is common and a survey done on 164 analyses shows that in newer systems 10% can be saved in average at minimal cost if actual performance is documented. Experience exists from all types of systems and the method has become accepted by hundreds of leading companies in most European countries.
