Interrupting commercial air conditioning: demand management and indoor air quality implications.
Author(s) : DOBNEY P., SINCLAIR T.
Type of article: Article
Summary
It was concluded that interrupting the operation of commercial air conditioning plant for 5, 10 or even 15 minutes in every half an hour is feasible in most buildings without compromising indoor air quality and incurring excessive temperature increases. Interruption would be by an injected signal, just as off-peak water heaters are controlled at present. The potential peak reduction in the Northern Rivers Electricity area is up to 8 megawatts at present, depending on the promotion the tariff receives.
