Summary
Impinging jet cooling technique has various advantages such as: one of the highest known single phase heat transfer coefficients, high heat flux removal rates with small surface-to-coolant temperature differential, possibility of its regulation, and direct contact with the cooling surface. let impingement is widely used in industrial applications for drying paper and textiles, quenching metals, turbine blade cooling and is described as one of cooling methods, that can meet increasing requirements of electronic devices. In the paper, in a short introduction, advantages and applications of the impinging jet cooling are described. Properties and structure of free-surface and submerged jets are presented. Effect of interference between adjacent jets in jet array on heat transfer performance is shown and explained. Impact of fluid properties on heat transfer coefficients is analyzed, as well as impact of geometric characteristic - diameter, ratio of jet area to heater area, spacing between jets and a standoff between jet exit and the heater.
