Summary

SPIN-POLARIZED ATOMIC HYDROGEN IN SOLID H2 IS INVESTIGATED AT HELIUM TEMPERATURES. IT IS SHOWN THAT UP TO MAGNETIC INDUCTION VALUES B = 7.5 T THE RATE CONSTANT FOR RECOMBINATION OF H ATOMS IN SOLID H2 IS INDEPENDENT OF THE MAGNETIC INDUCTION AT TEMPERATURES HIGHER THAN 1.3 K AND LOWER THAN 5.4 K. THEORETICAL ASSESSMENTS OF THE MOST PROBABLE MECHANISMS FOR RECOMBINATION OF POLARIZED H ATOMS IN SOLID H2 ARE PRESENTED.
